ACTIVE AFFILIATES

Bear Closet

Bear Closet is a 2 unit decal course dedicated to exploring personal narrative, as it relates to queer experiences, to prepare students to speak in front of middle and high school students. Our aim is to motivate LGBTQ+ adolescents to pursue higher education with the reassurance of a better, more inclusive future that college may provide. This course is open to students of all genders and sexualities (including straight, cisgender allies), and will facilitate student volunteer work with LGBTQ support organizations, including the Pacific Center and Center for Human Growth. Rather than strictly focusing on assignments and deadlines, this two-unit DeCal prioritizes class discussion and bonding among its members, for the sake of establishing a strong base for community service. Cal Queer and Asian (Cal Q&A)

Cal Q&A was established to provide a space for safety, support, and empowerment and to meet the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning individuals interested in queer and Asian topics. The intersectionality of being queer and Asian is the main focus of this organization, but this applies to many aspects of society and American culture.

Cal Q&A was founded a decade ago on the UC Berkeley campus as a student organization dedicated to the intersectionality of the Queer and Asian identities. Through weekly meetings, various monthly events, and our annual conference, Cal Q&A acts as a safe space, social group, and support network for any and every student on the UC Berkeley campus.

We meet every Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:00 PM. Check our social media below for updated meeting locations!
